Featured Artists from the 2022 LTC Comedy Carnaval hosted by Su Teatro in Denver, Colorado.
The Latinx Theatre Commons is headed to San Diego with the 2026 LTC Carnaval of New Latinx Musicals! Carnaval will take place August 28-30, 2026, produced in partnership with the University of California San Diego Department of Theatre and Dance, La Jolla Playhouse, and TuYo Theatre.
Join us for the pachanga! Carnaval will be an exuberant celebration of Latinx music and storytelling. It will bring together Latinx theatremakers and theatre decision makers from across the nation to amplify, illuminate, and forward Latinx musical theatre.
The Carnaval serves as an intervention to combat the patterned absence of authentic representation by uplifting Latinx musical theatre writers, composers, lyricists, directors, and music directors. The Carnaval will also feature the rich talent of Latinx musical theatre performers in the Southern California region, and involve participants in rich conversations about the state of Latinx music and musical theatre.
We received over fifty new musical submissions for Carnaval and from that incredible list selected four new musicals that we will present readings of over the weekend. In addition, we will have a Carnaval Slam that highlights five Carnaval finalists. Take a look at the press release here.
